Leading from the Library
The modern school library supports education in a variety of ways. One essential role librarians play is that of a leader who works collaboratively to build relationships, mold culture and climate, and advocate for the needs of students and the community. This book focuses on how librarians can help support students, teachers, and parents in the digital age. (ISTE 2019)
Digital Reading: What’s Essential in Grades 3-8
Many of our young students come to school with vast experience in the digital world but too often use digital tools in limited ways because they view technology as merely another form of entertainment. Teachers can help students recognize their expertise in out-of-school digital reading and extend it into the world of school. For this to happen, we must redefine reading to include digital reading and texts, learn how to support digital reading into the classroom, and embed digital tools throughout the elementary and middle school curriculum. (NCTE 2015)
From Inspiration to Red Carpet
The glitz, the glamour, the excitement!! Host a student film festival to see it all come to life. More importantly, you’ll see how invested your students are in their projects and how preparing for this moment has helped them to enhance their writing, storytelling, creativity, and digital literacy skills. The film festival will showcase student productions to their peers, teachers, parents, and the community, and provide a way for students to share their stories with the world. (ISTE 2013)
